Bringing the classroom to you

Hi, I’m Emily! I’m currently studying for a MSci in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my experiences tutoring GCSE pupils, helping students get their ‘a-ha’ moment and watching them grow in confidence. Having been both tutor and tutee, I hope I can provide a comfortable, supportive space for students to get to grips with whatever they’re finding difficult, whether that’s content, confidence or exam technique. Always feel free to ask questions, tell me to speed up, slow down or explain something again!
I achieved 4 A*s at A-Level in Biology, Chemistry, French and Mathematics. I also have 8 Grade 9, 1 Grade 8 and 1 A* GCSEs. (I’ve created quite a lot of resources for myself over the course of my studies, which I’m happy to share if they suit your learning style, or to help you create your own! I think repackaging information can be a really effective way to learn.)
I look forward to tutoring you! Get in touch if you have any questions for me.

Emily was an outstanding A level student with a particular flair for Chemistry. However across all her A level subjects she was at the very top of her field. Emily is remarkably quick to understand new information and her use of Maths in her sciences was particularly strong. Emily is clear and succinct when communicating her subject and would make a wonderful tutor in any of her A level subjects. Emily is highly reliable and trustworthy and will always work hard at her academic subjects. It is clear that Emily thrives academically and will certainly be well suited to teaching at secondary or tertiary level education in the years to come. I have no doubt that Emily will gain fantastic marks throughout University and be awarded a high class degree in the years to come. Emily would be an invaluable addition to your tutoring team.
Former Chemistry Teacher
I have known Emily Fillbrook for the last two years within the course of her A Level studies with me. She is intelligent and has always been hardworking. She is very well organised, never missing a deadline and she has also been fully engaged in the life of the French department and has undertaken the following:
mentored two Year 10 students weekly, for a whole year, to help them practice and revise their French; eg. vocabulary, verbs, grammar, speaking, etc.
come to all Sixth Form French lunches and other events organised with the aim of speaking French outside of lesson time
when in Year 12, joined in the ‘Sixth Form meet’ to help the Yr13 practise for their Speaking examination by listening to their presentation and carefully questioning them to get the students to share more information on the topic that they had researched
Attended fortnightly the “Buddy up” club to help KS3 & KS4 students with their French work.
I wholeheartedly support her application to become a tutor.
