I am in my second year studying medicine at the University of Edinburgh having achieved high grades at school. Perhaps unconventionally, I studied Spanish A Level alongside Biology, Chemistry and Maths. Next year, I plan to pause my medicine studies to study Literature and Medicine. I believe it is this breadth of experience and interests which set me apart as a tutor.
Studying medicine, I have a strong grasp of both Biology and Chemistry, achieving an average mark of 85% in my first year examinations. I have prepared students for both subjects with target grades ranging from a 4 at GCSE and a C at A level to those aiming for the top grade. My teaching style focuses on the individual students. I take time to find strengths and weaknesses and aim to extend strengths and lessen weaknesses.
I achieved in the top 1% of the UCAT (with an average score of 822.5 with Band 1 SJT) and the top 10% in BMAT including a score of 8.4 in section 1. I achieved offers from Edinburgh, Sheffield and Birmingham following selection processes.
Attending the 2018 No 1. Times State School of the Year, I myself took the 11+ exam and feel confident in preparing students for all of its components. I have prepared students in Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning, Maths and English papers.
Over the past two-and-a-half years, I have tutored students for over 200 hours online in admissions tests, university application and school subjects. I tutor:
Science – KS1 – KS3
Biology – KS3- A Level
Chemistry – KS3 – A Level
Spanish – KS3 – GCSE
Medicine admissions – BMAT, UCAT, and MMI preparation
English – KS1 – KS3
Maths – KS1 – GCSE

I have known Daniel Sharpe since January 2020 through my role as his tutor in the Problem Based Learning (PBL) programme in the Department of Medicine at the University of Edinburgh. PBL combines individual research and collaborative group discussions, both carried out to a high academic standard.
I can highly recommend Daniel on the basis of his strong grasp of a wide range of academic subject areas. In addition to strong intellectual skills Daniel demonstrates excellent teamworking skills both in terms of leadership and as an empathetic contributor to group discussions. He has shown skills in being able to adapt his contributions to expand the knowledge base of the groups he has been in, whether contributing face to face or online.

Daniel Sharpe tutored me for UCAT and Interviews for Medical School. He was very patient in his tutoring and ensured that he answered any questions that I may have had. If there were something that he was not sure about, he would research and get back to me with an extensive explanation that was always easy to follow. I would highly recommend his teaching for any subject as I know that he would be as engaged, patient, and thorough as he was with me during the time that he tutored me.
