Bringing the classroom to you

Hi! I’m Lou, a recent graduate of the University of Oxford, where I achieved a first-class degree in BA History and Modern Languages. I’m truly passionate about literature, history and language and love sharing this interest with my students.
I studied a broad curriculum at university, covering historical topics as diverse as the Crusades, Witchcraft and European communism. I am also fluent in French and have studied Francophone literature from the 13th to the 20th centuries.
I have extensive experience in working with young people to help them fulfil their academic goals, having taught English as a foreign language in two high schools in France, as well as teaching English to teenagers and adults in an EU-funded language school. I also volunteered as a coach with the education charity Universify, which partners Oxford students with year 10/11 pupils to build these pupils’ confidence and improve access to higher education.
Moreover, volunteering as a college outreach and access rep while at university gave me a unique insight into the Oxbridge admissions process. Combined with my own experience of putting together a successful application and of the interview, this made me appreciate how useful it can be to get advice from someone with first-hand experience to help demystify the process.
As a tutor, I understand how important it is to encourage my students to see every topic from a range of angles and perspective, and, crucially, to have a great time along the way! I look forward to hearing from you!

Louise is exceptionally intelligent, as well as an extremely talented historian, literary scholar and linguist. She is also thoughtful, warm and empathetic, with a real interest in how best to learn and to teach. All in all, the ideal tutor.
