 My Bio

Marie Neil offers tailored French lessons covering key stages 1-5, ensuring enjoyment and success at every level. Marie has an advanced level of French and over ten years of experience studying the language, including at A-level and advanced degree-level. Lessons will be tailored to the individual pupil’s needs and level, and will focus on all aspects of French language learning, such as writing, reading and speaking skills, grammar, vocabulary, and specific exam techniques to help the student reach their full potential within the subject. Marie has previous experience with tutoring, as well as planning and delivering lessons to whole classes. Marie’s approach is friendly, calm and encouraging, ensuring that lessons are fun and engaging. Her students quickly build confidence in all four skills, increasing the likelihood of those top exam marks!

 My Experience:

I have experience with tutoring whilst in school as well as working with small groups of pupils outside of lessons to practice skills such as grammar and speaking.
In order to expand my teaching abilities as I am considering a potential career in teaching, I recently took part in a government-run teaching internship in a school in Oxford which gave me experience teaching whole classes as well as offering individual support to pupils. The internship has familiarised me with various elements of pedagogy as I observed many French and German lessons. I also had the opportunity to plan two of my own teaching segments that I delivered to a year 9 and a year 8 class, which included going over material from previous lessons and a range of activities based on the topics they had studied. This invaluable experience has expanded my abilities to thouroughly plan and deliver French and German lessons that are tailored to the student's individual needs.

• English Language, English Literature, French, German, Chemistry, History: Grade 9
• Maths, Biology, Physics, Philosophy & Theology: Grade 8
• Textiles technology: Grade 7

I am currently studying French and beginner's German at the University of Oxford. Since studying German at beginner's level, my German has now reached a post A-level standard.
I also have a French background and grew up in a bilingual household.
