 My Bio

Hi! I’m Marcus and I’m offering Latin lessons for KS3 and GCSE. I am currently studying at the University of Bristol and achieved Grade 9 at GCSE and A* at A-Level in Latin. I enjoyed studying a language spoken so long ago and am looking to assist other people’s studies by sharing the passion my teachers gave to me. I am happy to offer tailored sessions on reading, translations and vocabulary, on any topic you choose!

My Subjects

 My Experience:

I am new to tutoring, but excited to begin helping people learn.
Experience that may be relevant are the leadership roles I took on during my last year at school. These included captain of the 2nd XV rugby team and Head Boy of House.

 My Qualifications:

Hi! My qualifications include;
- Grade nines in English, German and Latin GCSEs,
- A*s in English Language and Literature, German and Latin A-Levels,
- I am currently also studying for a Law degree at the University of Bristol, for which I am on track for a 2:1 or 1st class degree.
I began as an avid reader as a child and through my teenage years, and this developed into a passion and talent for English and foreign languages.
In terms of English, I have had to write lots of essays and simulated letters to 'clients' for the degree I am currently studying, all of which are marked to a very high language standard. During my A-Level, we studied The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, poetry from Philip Larkin and a Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams, as well as a range of non-fiction texts.
For German, my own teachers inspired me to take a deep interest in the country, its culture and its history. Now I have visited all three German-speaking countries on multiple occasions. I spent my Individual Research Project for A-Level researching and discussing the music scene of East Germany.
In Latin, we spent lots of time studying both the complex grammar and vocabulary, but also a range of writing in verse and prose. Specifically, at A-Level we studied the Aeneid by Virgil, the Philippic speeches by Cicero and the Metamorphoses by Apuleius.
