 My Bio

I am offering tutoring in all Primary School subjects in Key Stage 2 (7-11 year olds) and English and Maths in Key Stages 3 and 4 (11-16 year olds).

I have taught at The British College of Brazil in São Paulo for the last two years and, prior to that, taught at Knightsbridge School in London for one year. During my time as a teacher, I became familiar with recent initiatives such as Maths Mastery and Pi Corbett’s ‘Talk for Writing’, both of which are excellent at supporting a range of needs in the classroom. From my past experience, combined with the attention I give to each individual, children in my lessons have made great progress.

I strive to nurture a passion for problem solving and critical thinking in all pupils through thoughtful and engaging activities.

 My Reviews

  1. Verified Reviews

I have known Joe for 4 years, and in that time have known him to be exceptionally professional, reliable, flexible and have very high standards.

I was his mentor when he was training and was always impressed by his thorough planning of sequences, using AfL effectively and then delivering the lessons in lively, exciting ways.

As a teacher, he is very well liked and respected by the children staff and parents. I have on two occasions asked if he is available to return to Knightsbridge School, but he has had other commitments.

Joseph Mills was employed as a Key Stage 2 class teacher by The British College of Brazil from August 2018 until June 2020. During this time, Joseph demonstrated that he is a strong class teacher with a good knowledge of the curriculum. He is very focused on the progress of the pupils in his class, and took all appropriate measures to ensure that his teaching was differentiated and his students received personalised support. He was open to new initiatives and willing to adapt his practice based on feedback and staff training. Joseph was able to form positive bonds with his colleagues through which best practices were shared. He also developed strong relationships with pupils and parents based on respect and open communication.
